 Breaking Barriers: Adeoye Ikeoluwa's Journey to Miss Ebony

Adeoye Ikeoluwa, a standout personality from Platoon 10 at the Nysc Asaya Kogi camp recently captured the Miss Ebony title, marking a significant milestone in her journey. 


Growing up in a small town of Owode-egba  in Nigeria, Ikeoluwa’s story is one of resilience and self-acceptance amidst the challenges of colorism.


"I feel so great and empowered," Ikeoluwa shared, reflecting on her bold decision to participate in the Miss Ebony pageant. 


"Colorism is a significant issue in Nigeria, but I decided to come out and represent proudly." 





Her journey from a modest upbringing to achieving this recognition speaks volumes about her confidence and commitment to challenging societal norms.


Ikeoluwa, who holds a degree in History and Diplomacy from Olabisi Onabanjo University , graduated with a 2.1. 


She credits her strong family support for her success. "I don’t feel inferior; it’s all about acceptance," she said. "Color is not what defines us. My mother is a powerful figure in my life, and my father, a devout Christian, has always supported me."


As the middle child in a family of five, Ikeoluwa’s upbringing was marked by the values of faith and perseverance. 


Her mother’s service in Kabba during NYSC is a testament to the family’s commitment to public service.





Looking ahead, Ikeoluwa plans to pursue her dreams after completing NYSC. "May 8th is my birthday, and after my service, I intend to follow my aspirations and continue making an impact."


Currently single, Ikeoluwa's journey is a beacon of empowerment, demonstrating that true beauty and strength come from within.
