Access Bank Entrepreneurship Programme  in Kogi Asaya Camp Awards N1 Million to Top Finalist

Access bank Entrepreneurship programme in Kogi reached it's nexus as five corps members were selected from a group of ten finalists. 


The event, which included business plan presentations, aimed to support innovative business ideas and empower youth to start their ventures.


The top 5 finalists were awarded various cash prizes based on their business proposals, with Iduko Ebube Marvelous with State code KG/24B/2531 emerging as the overall winner, receiving N1 million for his cassava production and processing business.


The event began with a series of presentations, with each finalist showcasing their business ideas. 


The first finalist discussed marketing art materials online, leveraging her social media presence and creativity to expand her business. 


Nwodo Maryann Chiamaka, the second presenter, introduced her small-scale tiger nut company, highlighting its health benefits and its potential to reduce the consumption of carbonated drinks.


Ani Amarachi Peace, the third contestant, spoke on broiler chicken production for meat supply, while the fourth finalist, Suleaiman Fatmah Nana, discussed her fish farming business, focusing on solving the lack of local fish farms in her area of Abuja. 


Lastly, Iduko Ebube Marvelous detailed his cassava production and its highly consumed end product, garri, which earned him the top prize.


The judges, Dr. Umar from Lokoja, Mrs. Okege Suzan, Engr. Nasir Abubakar from Kogi State Polytechnic, and Mr. Williams Ojo from Access Bank, evaluated the contestants based on several criteria, including business potential, feasibility, and presentation skills. 





Dr. Umar noted that the competition was structured around paper presentations, social media engagement, and business proposals, with presentations accounting for 50% of the final score.


In addition to the top 5, the other five finalists received N100,000 each for their efforts. 


Chinasa Angella, who also won the social media contest, was awarded an additional N50,000, bringing her total prize to N450,000. 


Other top winners included Ani Amarachi Peace, who received N250,000 for securing fourth place, and Suleaiman Fatmah Nana, who took home N700,000 for her fish farming business and  Nwodo Maryann Chiamaka received 150,000”


Access Bank representatives, including Temitope Williams, Relationship Officer, and Idowu Olaniru, Lokoja Branch Manager, emphasized the importance of empowering youth to develop sustainable businesses in the current economic climate. 


The initiative, known as Accesspreneurship, is part of the bank's broader effort to equip corps members with the tools and resources necessary to succeed in entrepreneurship.


"The goal is to support corps members and students in starting businesses, as we can’t all rely on salary jobs," said Williams. Olaniru added, "This competition is part of a national initiative held at every NYSC camp, where we empower youth to create and sustain their businesses."


The winners will receive their prizes after opening Access Bank accounts, but the bank stressed that they will not have control over how the funds are used. The money is intended to support the winners' business ideas, ensuring the funds are directed towards their intended purpose.
